Contempo-experimental printmaking masterclasses with Summa Shing

Saturday 4th June:
Brisbane based multidisciplinary artist and art educator; Summa Shing explores the multifaceted mediums that contribute to her process-based art practice in print media. Shing will be teaching 3 masterclasses in experimental printmaking techniques on Saturday the 4th of June, 2022, at Vacant Assembly art studio, 266 Montague Rd West End. Wine and Canapés will be served during the sessions.

11-1pm Embossing workshop:
Learn how to make beautiful embossed relief prints.

2-4pm Experimental monoprinting-
Learn various monoprinting techniques.

5-7pm Life drawing & print techniques-
Tutored life drawing session with female model (clothed session).

Cost: $50pp includes all materials, Wine & Canapés.

Monotype with Plants -with Dulcet Gray

Tuesday 7th June 9-12pm
Plant enthusiast and printmaker Dulcet Gray is hosting a monotype with plants workshop. Dried organic matter is pressed and printed with oil based ink to create botanical studies. In addition, these prints will be finished with elements of typography. All materials supplied but feel free to bring own pressed botanicals

Transfer method-printmaking with Dulcet Gray & Kitty Horton

Saturday 11th June 9-12pm
Within this workshop printmakers Dulcet Gray & Kitty Horton will demonstrate the transfer method technique using an oil based solution. Printed imagery will be coated and printed by hand and through the etching press. By using this technique artists can create infinite print media compositions. All materials supplied

Experimental Drypoint workshop with Kitty Horton & Simon Roots

Saturday 11th June 1-3:30pm
Artists Kitty Horton & Simon Roots are Printmakers who incorporate  experimental approaches within their art practices. Come and explore a range of oil based printmaking techniques in a drypoint workshop.  Within this workshop participants will break through conventional boundaries by extending the norm of the carefully prepared plate. Investigation takes place through the use of a range of organic and technical cut out shapes. Through exploring free form plates, artists can create alternative and multiple combinations, compositions, and layers with unique mark making and subject matter. All Materials supplied.

Plants to clay- printmaking with Dulcet Gray

Saturday 18th June 1-4:30pm
Dulcet Gray introduces her new relief printing technique of transferring collected plants to clay. With the use or monotype techniques, the subject matter is pressed into air drying clay with oil based ink. These plates can simply exist as an artefact. All materials supplied.
