Convergent Bodies: First Leap

Convergent Bodies is a visceral self-identification with other interspecies bodies and the emergence of a speculative posthuman future where technology is applied as ecological steward and interlocutor for entanglement with the more-than-human.

In an 11-week OCCUPY residency, artist Bianca Tainsh has been visualising this concept through experimental juxtapositions of a vast exploratory archive of organic artefacts and digital documentation, and an accumulating body of aesthetic and conceptual research exploring microscopic and subterranean realms and the relational and metaphysical entanglement of all species. Unlike Haeckel's Art Forms in Nature, Tainsh's archive seeks the wild asymmetries of decay, sexual manifestation, and symbiosis.

Convergent Bodies: First Leap is the initial manifestation of a new body of work that will take its cues from Tainsh's residency experiments.

OPENING EVENT :
5-8 pm, Friday 18th September

EXHIBITION CONTINUES:
10am–3pm, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th September

Also on show and for sale will be a series of reflective works, created through Tainsh's explorations of the more-than-human landscape of Lake Weyba, Kabi Kabi Country. Many of these works have not been exhibited in Queensland.

Peruse a mini library of books that will open your mind to the alternative and inspiring views that art, radical research, and Indigenous cosmology offer in the face of our polycrisis and detachment from the more-than-human world to which we belong. Bianca will be on site if you'd like to explore the concepts that are interlaced through her works.
