TALK N TWINE KieRON ANDERSON

Join us for Talk n Twine, an open studio session with current Vacant Assembly resident artist Kieron Anderson, presented in partnership with Aboriginal Art Co and Vacant Assembly as part of his 12-week Occupy Residency.

Kieron invites the community and public into his studio to contribute to his ambitious goal of creating 150 metres of hand-harvested, handmade string. This string will be woven into a large-scale dugong net, which will form part of his exhibition at Aboriginal Art Co in August.

Using harvested inner bark from Quandamooka Country, Kieron shares the traditional cultural practice of string making while participants assist in twisting twine for the work. Throughout this residency, he is exploring Food as Medicine as a guiding framework, which encompasses his connection with dugong.

Warm up your hands in this very hands-on, communal making session that offers insight into the residency project, his upcoming solo exhibition, and the cultural knowledge embedded in the process.
