LET ME SEE THE COLTS

“LET ME SEE THE COLTS”
Chris Worfold, Jack Hardy, Dan Rowan & Ella De Daunton

Chris and Jack are both painters.
Chris is twice as old as Jack and Ella.
So is Dan.
Ella is Dan’s Daughter
Jack is Ella’s boyfriend.
Dan and Ella are both photographers.

“LET ME SEE THE COLTS” is a song written by Bill Callahan about a gambling man who wakes up his friend at dawn to go out into the field to see the colts that will run next year.
Callahan is the artist, his friend is the audience, and the colts are metaphors for creative potential.
Callahan asks, ”Is there anything as still as sleeping horses?"

The colts are things that are becoming.
Artists don't want paintings, they don’t want photographs.
They want to gamble on what they haven’t seen yet, on what they don’t know.
They want potential… they want the sleeping horses.

Chris and Jack’s paintings invest in images of unconscious insight.
Dan and Ella’s analogue photographs chance on images of conscious unsight.
They all know the horses will lose more times than they win, but they want us to wake up and look at them anyway.
To do that go to Vacant Assembly, November 28 - 30 and see.
